Temperature range

Which temperatures count as good?

Scores rise from the coldest good temperature toward the ideal, then taper toward the hottest good temperature. Only sunny days exactly at the ideal throughout the selected forecast can reach 100. Heat drops sharply beyond your hottest good temperature—especially by 90°F and 95°F—with an additional safety penalty above 110°F that reaches zero at 120°F.

bstwthr compares the next three, five, or seven days in 500 places. Each daily score combines the selected temperature range with daylight cloud cover, sunshine, precipitation, wind, and humidity. The forecast score emphasizes the full selected range while retaining some weight for its weakest day. Rough but survivable weather keeps a low score; zero is reserved for a complete forecast of catastrophic conditions.

The server checks Open-Meteo once each day and keeps the result in a local cache. Changing the temperature range recalculates every score in the browser.
